Three generations of artists
From april 7th to july 25th 2016

Between 1860 and 1930, number of artists lived in the village of Magny-les-Hameaux among them members of three generations of the Bonheur family. Auguste Bonheur (1824-1884) bought the former rectory of Magny-les-Hameaux converted few years ago into a studio by Bascassat, a landscape and animal painter. Rosa Bonheur’s brothers and sisters, Auguste, Isidore and Juliette, worked here together and created an exceptional body of work comprised of paintings and sculptures which are presented in this exhibition. The exhibition is organized by GIP Port-Royal and The Friends of Rosa Bonheur, with support from the town of Magny-les-Hameaux and the Réunion des Musées Nationaux. |
